Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Gyst collects when you use our iOS app and web experience, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Last updated:

Overview

Gyst (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a product and warranty vault that helps you capture product details, store warranties and receipts, open manuals and support resources, and manage maintenance reminders.

We collect only what we need to run the service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Gyst, we may collect:

  • Contact info: name, email address, phone number, and physical address you provide in your profile or registration flows.
  • Account identifiers: a unique user ID associated with your account.
  • User content: product photos, nameplate images, receipts, product details, warranties, manuals links, maintenance notes, and messages you send in product help or feedback / support forms.
  • Technical data needed to operate the service: such as authentication session information and basic request metadata processed by our hosting and database providers.

Camera and photo library access are used only when you choose to capture or upload images for product or receipt processing. Device location (GPS) is not required to use Gyst; address fields may be filled with assistance from map/places services when you choose that option.

How we use information

We use collected information to:

  • Create and secure your account
  • Store and sync your products, warranties, images, and related records
  • Provide scanning and extraction assistance (for example, reading text from a nameplate or receipt)
  • Show manuals, registration, troubleshooting, and brand support resources you request
  • Send or show maintenance / warranty reminders you set
  • Respond to feedback and support requests
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve reliability

Primary purpose: App Functionality. We do not use personal data for third-party advertising.

How we share information

We share information with service providers that help us operate Gyst, solely to provide the features you use:

  • Infrastructure & auth: database, file storage, and authentication services (for example, Supabase).
  • Scanning & assistance providers: image/text analysis and AI assistance services used when you scan or ask for product help (for example, Google Cloud Vision and Gemini).
  • Places / search / video helpers: when you use address suggestions, search, or related helpers.

When you open manufacturer manuals, registration pages, or support sites, those third-party sites have their own privacy practices. We do not control them.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer (with notice where required).

Retention & security

We retain account and product data for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You may delete products or request account deletion as described below.

We use industry-standard safeguards such as encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong password and keep your devices protected.

Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access or correct personal information
  • Delete your account or certain data
  • Export a copy of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

You can update profile details in the app, remove products you no longer need, and permanently delete your account in the app (Manage Profile → Delete Account) or via https://gystit.com/delete-account. Contact us for other privacy requests. We will respond within a reasonable time as required by applicable law.

Children

Gyst is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of Gyst after changes become effective means you acknowledge the updated policy.
